Tsantsabane Local Municipality held its Council Meeting on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.

One of the key matters tabled was the replacement of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Proportional Representation (PR) Councillor.

Council was informed that Cllr Dirk Esau had resigned. In line with the Municipal Structures Act and IEC processes, the EFF nominated its next candidate from its PR list.

Mrs Dinkwetse Peggy Louw was subsequently sworn in as the new EFF PR Councillor during the Council sitting.

The meeting continued with other items on the agenda.

1.Council also deliberated on the long-awaited development of the Mall in Tsantsabane.

Council noted the importance of the project for local economic development, job creation, and investment in the town.

After discussions, Council resolved that a dedicated workshop be convened to discuss all issues relating to the development of the Mall.

2. Council has accepted and adopted the Minister of COGTA’s determination on Upper Limits of Total Remuneration Packages payable to the senior managers (Section 54A & 56 Managers) and will now implement it.
